Kwesi Korang, the founder and leader of the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group Patriot Ghana, has taken Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, to the cleaners for referring to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as “senseless people.”
He described the comments as reckless, irresponsible, and damaging to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign.
Speaking during an interview on Angel FM, Mr. Jumah described members of the NDC as persons lacking intelligence, adding that any member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who crosses over to the NDC has lost their mind.
‘’It’s only when their senses return that they come back to the NPP,” he said.
He also claimed that NDC members are not of sound mind, implying that Alan John Kyerematen, a well-known figure who recently left the NPP, should be evaluated by a psychiatrist.
Kwesi Korang responded by saying that people like Mr. Jumah should not be allowed to speak for the NPP in the media.
He stated that such statements would rather undermine people’s trust in the NPP than win them over.
He advised the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, to distance himself from these reckless remarks, as they would taint his campaign.
”Such irresponsible words come from a man over the age of 60 who is expected to be responsible but has chosen to engage in dirty politics. This is an election year, and we are asked to refrain from indecent language, making controversial remarks, or making statements that could destabilise the country. Such comments are not made by respectable men. Jumah’s words are both regrettable and condemnable. I will request that the NPP prohibit certain individuals from speaking on their behalf in the media. Some of them lack discipline and are unable to effectively represent the NPP. “The party is selling a candidate tagged as a humble, decent, and responsible politician, but the communicators speaking for him are not decent, disciplined, and irresponsible,” he said on Rainbow Radio’s Frontline 87.5 FM.
He then advised the family of Mr. Jumah, particularly his children, to seek help for their father to ensure he is of a sound mind.
”I am urging the family, particularly his children, to seek help. They should have him examined to ensure he is of sound mind. If they refuse and claim that is what the father is known for, it will be too late and they may end up on the streets because I doubt a responsible adult would make such reckless comments. He is acting like a child. It appears that all is not well. We cannot insult him, but we can only encourage his family to seek assistance for their father. I continue to insist that he is not of sound mind, and the family must take immediate action.
