Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has ordered his party’s Members of Parliament not to attend any sittings if the House is recalled.
According to him, such meetings are used to forward unscrupulous agendas.
Speaking to supporters in the Western Region on Saturday, November 16, 2024, Asiedu Nketiah claimed that with the 2024 general elections coming, the majority caucus had no legitimate reason for reconvening Parliament other than to pursue dubious goals.
He urged that no NDC MP should enter Parliament, suggesting alternative actions were irrelevant.
He emphasized that there were no urgent matters requiring attention in Parliament and expressed concerns about potential corruption, citing the past eight years as evidence adijng that Parliament’s rules would guide their actions, regardless of judicial decisions, and that they would not engage with the opposing party at present.
His remarks comes after the Supreme Court on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 overturned the decision made by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to declare four parliamentary seats vacant.
