Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has urged Volta residents to change their voting patterns in the upcoming general elections on December 7.
The independent presidential candidate challenged residents to reconsider their political affiliations and vote for him in order to transform the region into an industrial and economic hub.
He stated that the region’s strategic location and natural resources can help transform it, reduce poverty, and stimulate economic development.
Speaking to the residents as part of his campaign activities in the region, Nana Kwame Bediako reiterated his commitment to reviving the industrial capabilities of the region that have been neglected for years.
‘’I came to Volta to tell them that I know that in the past 40 years you’ve been stacked with one party. You should not stick with the people. Stick with the nation. Stick with the country, the people, and what they need. The Volta region is one of the richest regions of this country. You have the biggest man-made lake that connects the country. You have oil and arable land for farming, and you have gold; you have plantains. You are rich, but you have not added any industrial plans to it. I am bringing industrial machines. I am bringing them to Volta. The time has come. We have to vote these people out. They’re not only lying to the Volta region. They’re not only lying to the people of Hohoe and all these places; they’re lying to Ghana.’’
Cheddar outlined a plan to industrialise all 16 regions of Ghana during the virtual launch of his manifesto titled “The 12 Pillars of Economic Freedom” on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at an event in Accra.
His manifesto outlines a comprehensive plan for Ghana’s economic growth and development based on 12 key pillars, including a 16 Regional Industrial Revolution to capitalise on the country’s abundant natural resources and agricultural potential.
He stated at the time that Attributable Reserves research revealed that Ghana’s mineral and agro-processing industries are worth an estimated US$2.5 trillion.
The manifesto outlines the potential wealth of each region, with the Western Region, boasting an estimated US$412.9 billion, the Ashanti Region at US$240 billion, and the Volta Region at US$192 billion.
The 16 Regional Industrial Revolution, aims to create an economic output of US$4.7 trillion within a decade which, includes establishing one industrial plant for minerals and one for agro-processing in each region, while the Ashanti Region, will have two industrial plants due to its higher potential.
