The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has pledged to provide unwavering support for President-elect John Dramani Mahama if sworn in as president.
This was disclosed by the President of the GPCC, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, during a visit to the President-elect.
He expressed confidence in Mahama’s leadership experience and capabilities.
The man of God advised President-elect John Mahama to use the opportunity given him to serve the nation with integrity.
He further advised him to make decisions that would benefit the country as a whole.
“We are here to assure you that the GPCC will continue to pray for you and will also make ourselves available to support your presidency. At the end of the day, we want Ghana to win, and we know that once he has selected you for us, he will use you mightily.“We will make ourselves available; we will come to you from time to time, and anytime that we are invited, we promise to be here to share our mind and to discuss the development of this nation together,” he stated.
Reacting, President-elect John Mahama thanked the Council for their support.
He believed that even though he would have to make some difficult choices throughout his term, they would be best for the country.
“Even though we have an overwhelming majority, we still have to build consensus in the way we approach things. I am sure the people of Ghana gave us a huge endorsement so that we can take the bold decisions necessary to be able to begin the reforms that this country urgently needs.
“Some decisions might be unpleasant, and it will all be in the national interest because sometimes you are sick and sometimes you have to take bitter medicine to get well,” he stated.
