NPP trying to sabotage the incoming administration through illegal recruitment and promotions – Nketiah

December 23, 2024
rally

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accused the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of attempting to sabotage the incoming administration.

He claims that the government is conducting last-minute recruitment exercises in all sectors of the economy.

He also warned that if any “last minute” appointments in the government sector are found to be illegal, they will be terminated.

Speaking at a victory rally in Sunyani on Friday [Dec 20], Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah revealed that they had discovered that the outgoing government had issued approximately 10,000 appointment letters and promoted several government officials in public institutions and agencies.

According the outgoing government has provided letters for people to join the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Customers Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA.)

”The outgoing government, having lost the elections, is sabotaging the incoming administration. They have mismanaged the energy sector, and if precautions are not taken, the dumsor will reoccur, so our MPs will come to address this. They informed us that the public sector was overburdened and that no recruitment could be conducted. However, over the last week, they have issued backdated appointment letters to approximately 10,000 people for immigration, GPHA, and other institutions. Those who do not meet the qualifications for promotions are promoted. They are promoting NPP members to lead these institutions and sabotage us. However, I want to assure them that if we take over and discover that your appointment was done illegally, you will be asked to go home.’’
