Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has revealed that an amount of $1.4 billion is needed to complete the Agenda 111 hospital projects.
He was reacting to a call made by President Akufo-Addo on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to complete the projects after he officially takes over.
Dr. Omane Boamah, in his remarks, slammed the government for failing to meet this financial requirement.
In a Facebook post, the former communications minister stated that all hospitals remain inactive, despite the significant investments made.
“None of the Agenda 111 hospitals is functioning. Uncompleted! US$1.4 billion needed to complete.”
The objective of this project, as envisioned by the President, is to ensure that Ghanaians in every district and region in the country have access to quality healthcare services.
The government explained that the project will boost the provision of healthcare infrastructure in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring universal health care for all.
citizens and attainment of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3).
It will further be a fulfilment of the government’s policy of a hospital in each district and region and improve the geographical coverage of healthcare delivery in the country, as well as offer improved access to healthcare for all Ghanaians.
