Incumbent Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has been declared the MP-elect after the final collation was done today, Sunday, January 5, 2025.
The final collation was held following an order by an Accra High Court on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
The court ordered the Electoral Commission to complete the collation of results in Tema Central, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South by January 6, 2025.
The court also directed the Inspector General of Police to provide armed security during the collation exercises to ensure a peaceful process.
This ruling followed mandamus applications filed by NPP candidates in the affected constituencies, compelling the EC to fulfil its statutory duties.
After the completion of the collation of an additional 31 polling stations, Mr. Patrick Yaw Boamah polled 21,099, whereas Baba Sadiq of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured 19,368 votes of the valid votes cast.
