A leading member of the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has expressed his commitment to assisting President John Dramani Mahama’s government in dealing with corruption and going after former corrupt appointees of former President Akufo-Addo.
Hopeson Adorye admonished on President John Dramani Mahama to take swift action against corruption following his swearing-in ceremony at the Black Star Square.
The politician described the president as a man who has matured politically.
He asserted that the inaugural speech by Mr. Mahama was unifying and full of hope, showing he was prepared to carry Ghanaians along.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Adorye urged the new administration to ensure that all former appointees of Akufo-Addo who misappropriated funds and engaged in other corrupt activities are brought to justice.
The change we wanted has come. What is most important now is that all the former ministers and appointees who stole state resources and misappropriated funds must be arrested and prosecuted. Any minister who has caused financial loss to the state, anyone of them who has engaged in corrupt activities, must be arrested and prosecuted.
He (Mahama) should arrest everyone involved in corruption. That will raise public confidence. I am prepared to support this agenda. I know some corrupt people, and I will start mentioning their names soon.”
