Leadership of the Adum Market has apologised for the incident that occurred on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, where some affected traders hooted at Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak-Mohammed.

The minister, accompanied by the Ashanti regional minister, went to the scene to sympathise with the affected traders and donated 1,500 bags of rice and 800 boxes of oil and soap.

However, some of the traders rejected the donation, stating that they were not interested in the bags of rice and the oil.

Speaking on the issue, the Public Relations Officer for the Adum Market stated that what happened was regrettable, and so they are offering their sincere apology to the minister.

Speaking in Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said not all of those who were seen in the viral video shouting and rejecting the donation are traders.

According to him, the majority of them are individuals who had come to the scene to observe .

He stated that leadership are against what happened and do not support it.

‘’We have accepted the donation from the minister. We did not reject the donation from the minister. The majority of those who were seen in the video shouting that they don’t want the bags of rice and the boxes of oil are not traders. They were observers who had come to the scene to observe. As leaders, we want to apologise to the minister. We did not sanction what happened. We are appealing to him to forgive us. It was distasteful, and we apologise to him,” he said.

When asked if they had received the donation, he said yes, and that they would distribute the rice bags and other items among the traders.

He disclosed that the market is divided into groups, and that leadership has already discussed the distribution modalities.
