The Minister of Interior Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak has advised Muslims to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with modesty and avoid actions that could disrupt the nation’s peace.
The Asawase Member of Parliament particularly urged the youth to uphold the values of self-discipline and devotion beyond the Ramadan, stressing that there was the need for reflection on the spiritual essence of the fasting.
He also asked them to be modest in their celebration and remember those who are in need.
“Our youth, I want to remind you that Eid is an opportunity for us to reflect on the 29 days of fasting. The fasting that we have made so much sacrifice for. We’ve denied ourselves food, we’ve denied ourselves a lot of comfort, we’ve given out a lot of alms, we’ve supported the needy, and we’ve done a lot to support our communities. Let’s not take all these deeds and throw them into the dustbin just because of the Eid day celebration.
“Let’s remember in our celebration we need to be modest. In modesty, we should also remember that we have neighbours who are not necessarily Muslims. And in our festive mood, let’s make sure we don’t disturb the peace of our neighbours,” he added.
