The family of late Ghanaian businessman Alhaji Asoma Banda has officially announced the date for the final funeral rites for their departed relative per Islamic practice.
According to the Abu Banda family, they have scheduled Thursday, April 10, 2025, as the day for the 40-day funeral service for the late Asoma Banda.
The ceremony will be held at the Alhaji Asoma Banda Mosque, which is located in the Airport residential area.
Alhaji Mohammed Abu Banda, the late businessman’s elder brother and Chief of Banda, Ashanti Region, announced this at a press conference on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Mosque in the Airport residential area.
The family held the press conference to dissociate itself from an ”unauthorised funeral”, which they claimed is being organised at the State House by ”unknown persons”.
Alhaji Mohammed Abu Banda advised the Ghanaian public to ignore any invitation to such a ceremony since the family has not sanctioned it.
He disclosed that the ceremony sanctioned by the family at the airport area will officially be led by National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Sharubutu at 10:00 am.
‘’I have but one duty as the head of the family, and that is to make sure we observe our religion. That is why my late brother requires of me, and I know it is what he would have also wanted. Therefore, we invite anyone who wishes to attend the 40-day funeral service for Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda to join us on Thursday, the 10th of April, 2025, at 10:00 am here at his mosque in the Airport residential area. We will be led by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Sharubutu, and the Quran will be read on behalf of the family.’’
The late Asoma Banda, according to the family, died on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
Alhaji Asoma Banda, a pioneering figure in Ghana’s shipping and aviation industries, passed away in the early hours of the day.
He was buried per Islamic traditions the same day.
As a result, the family is preparing for his 40 days Adua, which will take place on the announced date and at the location previously mentioned in the publication.
