Late Pope was a personable human with a good soul – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has, in a tribute, described the late Pope Francis as a “good man” who was “personable and humane, with a good soul”.

He made the remarks at the signing of the book of condolence in honour of the late Pope on Friday, April 25, 2025.

The book of condolence was opened at the Apostolic Nunciature in Accra.

It was held in honour of the late pontiff, who died at the age of 88 on Monday, April 21, 2025.

The late pope was known as a man for the poor and underprivileged persons.

He was also described as humble and an advocate for peace, social justice, and interfaith unity.

He would be buried today, Saturday, April 26, 2025.

A solemn mass was held here in Accra for him, with government officials led by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa attending.

Other religious leaders from various Christian denominations, including a representative of the National Chief Imam at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, also joined.
