The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has disclosed that it will be establishing six offices outside Ghana to curb the use of fake licences by Ghanaians living abroad.
Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA Julius Neequaye Kotey, who announced this, said that the pilot phase will be implemented in countries such as Germany and Canada, among others.
He made this known during the commissioning ceremony of a new state-of-the-art DVLA office in the Adentan Municipality on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
“The DVLA under my leadership, together with Foster Yeboah, is going to open six new stations, which are going to be outside Ghana to address licensing issues. So far, we have approached some embassies, and we have been able to get Germany, the UK, the USA, Canada, Dubai, and South Africa on board. We are going to begin piloting with them,” he stated.
On his part, the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, urged the DVLA to improve its service delivery and ensure it meets its mandates.
“On behalf of the president we charge DVLA to improve service delivery. They are responsible for registering and ensuring that any vehicle that plies our road is roadworthy.
“They are to ensure that they register every vehicle and provide that kind of quality service to the people of Ghana,” he said.
