Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has inaugurated the newly constituted advisory board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He inaugurated the board on May 9, 2025.
The Board is to provide strategic guidance to enable the Ministry to continue to function and deliver on its mandate.

The Members of the Board, which is chaired by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), Minister for Foreign Affairs, were sworn in by Justice Abena Asuamah Oppong.
Other members include Minister for Finance Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Trade and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, Minister for Defence Edward Omane Boamah, and former Minister for Foreign Affairs Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi, among others.

In his address the chairperson briefed the Board about the progress made by the ministry, including the ongoing reform of passport processing, and emphasised the importance of the guidance and acumen of the Board members.
“Your perspectives and guidance as members of the Advisory Board will serve as a compass in navigating these evolving complexities and will undoubtedly enrich the Ministry’s policy outline, enhance accountability and promote more inclusive governance.
“If there’s any time in our geopolitics that we need a formidable ministerial advisory board, it is this time. Because we are in uncharted waters, it’s a fluid situation now; nobody understands where we are now,” he said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also inaugurated the first-ever Governing Council for the Foreign Service Institute.
The council is made up of diplomats, including the ambassador Ramses Cleland, and members from the private sector, including the economist Frederick Amissah.
The mandate of the Council is to bridge the gap between academic theory and diplomatic practice.
