The Minority caucus in Parliament has staged a walkout and threatened to boycott all parliamentary proceedings until the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) varies the bail conditions for the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, aka Chairman Wontumi.
The caucus, led by Alexander Afenyo Markin, held a protest on Thursday afternoon in solidarity with Chairman Wontumi, expressing concerns about the bail conditions set by EOCO.
Addressing the Parliamentary press corps, the Minority Leader said they plan to march to EOCO’s office, accompanied by the media, to highlight the perceived injustice.
He described EOCO’s demand for GHS 50 million worth of property as unreasonable and an abuse of discretionary power.
He stressed the importance of accountability through due process and respect for individual rights, advocating for fairness, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law, while drawing attention to the potential consequences of unchecked power.
