The Ghana Muslim Mission, led by its National Chairman Sheikh Dr Amin Bonsu, has called on Ghanaian Muslims to use the Friday Eid-Adha celebration as an opportunity to pray for our dear nation.
The mission has also encouraged Muslims to create lasting bonds of friendship, care, love and unity with family, friends, neighbours and, more especially, the less privileged in society, no matter their religious orientation.
Sheikh Dr Bonsu further called on the youth especially to celebrate the Eid calmly and solemnly and eschew activities that will undermine the values and principles of the Islamic faith.
He particularly advised them against drinking alcoholic beverages, smoking, and motorbike displays during the celebration.
“We implore Muslims and all Ghanaians, especially the youth, to celebrate the Eid –Adha calmly and solemnly with the fear of God. Don’t ruin your rewards and contaminate the good deeds with bad deeds like indecent dressing, beach parties, drinking alcohol and smoking, risky motorbike displays among others. Remember that Allah is All-Knowing and All Seeing. Know that we will stand before Him and account for our deeds.”
He also urged them to donate generously towards the construction of schools, hospitals, and other infrastructural projects in their respective areas.
The statement concluded by praying for President John Dramani Mahama and asked Allah to grant him protection to continue delivering on his mandate as leader of the country.
“What is more important is that we donate generously towards very rewarding projects like the building of schools and colleges as well as hospitals and other infrastructures for the benefit of people and the reward of Allah.
We pray to Allah to continue to bless us with peace and prosperity. We also ask For Allah’s blessings for H.E the President and the entire Government, all political parties and State Institutions and ask Him to guide and protect them. Lastly, we would like to advice all Muslims to make their animal sacrifices in very hygienic conditions.”

EIDUL-ADHA MESSAGE FROM THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN -SHEIKH DR. AMIN BONSU
Praise and Thanks be to Allah, the Almighty, the Creator, the Owner and Sustainer of the Heavens and the Earth. We bear witness that
He is the only one worthy of worship and Muhammed (S.A.W) is indeed His servant and true Messenger.
May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) and all the Prophets including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, their families, companions and all those who follow the truth until the Day of Judgment.
The National Leadership of the Ghana Muslim Mission wishes Muslims and all Ghanaians a ’Happy Eidul-Adha’. We entreat all Muslims to use this Eid-Adha as an opportunity to pray for our dear nation and create lasting bonds of friendship, care, love and unity with family, friends, neighbours and more especially the less privileged in society, no matter their religious orientation.
Indeed, there is great reward in giving and Allah will surely reward you. Let’s help to build a more God-fearing, peaceful and prosperous nation.
We urge all Muslims to welcome this day in piety, happiness and joy. The day of Eidul al-Adha is also known as “Al-Eid Al-Kabir”, or the Major Feast. The word ‘Eid’ is an Arabic word meaning a festivity, a celebration, a recurring happiness, and a feast. This ‘Eid’ is the Feast of Sacrifice and it is to be celebrated in memory of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) trying to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as a mark of faith.
The Holy Qur’an describes Ibrahim (A.S) as follows: “Surely Ibrahim was an example, obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the polytheists. He was grateful for our bounties. We chose him and guided him unto a right path. We gave him good in this world, and in the next he will most surely be among the righteous” (Qur’an 16:120-121). The Holy Qur’an says in Surah 22 vs 37, “It is not their meat or their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches.
We implore Muslims and all Ghanaians, especially the youth, to celebrate the Eid –Adha calmly and solemnly with the fear of God. Don’t ruin your rewards and contaminate the good deeds with bad deeds like indecent dressing, beach parties, drinking alcohol and smoking, risky motorbike displays among others. Remember that Allah is All-Knowing and All Seeing. Know that we will stand before Him and account for our deeds.
What is more important is that we donate generously towards very rewarding projects like the building of schools and colleges as well as hospitals and other infrastructures for the benefit of people and the reward of Allah.
We pray to Allah to continue to bless us with peace and prosperity. We also ask For Allah’s blessings for H.E the President and the entire Government, all political parties and State Institutions and ask Him to guide and protect them. Lastly, we would like to advice all Muslims to make their animal sacrifices in very hygienic conditions.
