The Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim constituency, Mr. Owusu Kwame Frimpong, has expressed confidence that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will ultimately secure the Ablekuma North constituency seat, despite the ongoing dispute surrounding the seat.
The Electoral Commission has yet to officially declare a winner following the December 7, 2024, elections.
Both the NDC and New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates have claimed victory and erected billboards to thank their constituents.
The EC has been urged to declare the results to ensure the constituency has parliamentary representation.
In a recent interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the NDC MP emphasised that his party will win the seat and proposed that a new election be held to determine the winner.
He stated, “We will win the Ablekuma North constituency seat. We will be in the seat. There is no doubt about that. I know what I am talking about. We will organize a reelection, and the NDC will win that seat. The situation now is more like a draw game, and so we need to organise fresh elections to finally determine the winner.”
Meanwhile, he has criticised the Minority caucus, accusing them of hypocrisy and stating that they oppose government initiatives solely due to their inability to deliver meaningful contributions.
