A member of the family of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III, Naa Dromo, has written an open letter to President John Dramani Mahama, highlighting a recent incident of assault.

The letter details how a young man was allegedly attacked by thugs for questioning claims about the burial of the late Ga Manye.

In the letter, Naa Dromo describes a viral video showing a man, identified as Otto Ga, surrounded and threatened by individuals they claim are “landguards.”

His alleged crime was creating a video in which he asserted that his aunt, the late Queen Mother, had not yet been buried and remained at the morgue, despite public announcements of her funeral. Naa Dromo expressed her alarm over the incident, likening it to the assassination of former Liberian President Samuel Doe and questioning the effectiveness of Ghana’s security agencies if such acts can occur in broad daylight.

She called on President Mahama to be “intentional about ending this cancer called ‘landguards'” in the Greater Accra Region, arguing that it is as critical an issue as illegal mining (“galamsey”) in other parts of the country.

She further contends that addressing landguardism would reduce robberies and the double sale of land.

The letter concludes with a direct appeal to the president to order the immediate arrest and prosecution of the individuals seen in the video.

Copies of the letter were also sent to several high-ranking officials, including the Minister for Interior, the Inspector General of Police, the acting Minister for Defence, the National Security Coordinator, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau.

Meanwhile, the family has also accused one individual, Asafoatse Bullet, who has been identified as a personal bodyguard of the Ga Mantse, of threatening to mobilize his people to assault the young relative who had raised concerns about the burial of the late queen mother.

In a WhatsApp audio, Asafoatse was heard threatening to ambush the young man, capture, and have him flogged.

Also, in a video where he was made to kneel, one of the young men accused of being land guards slapped him and was also forced to offer an apology for the issues he had raised.

Below is the open letter

15th AUGUST, 2025.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE;
To All Media Houses
[Keep Sharing till it reaches the Jubilee House]

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MAHAMA.

Subject: THE LAWLESSNESS MUST END BEFORE YOUR TENURE, SIR.

Sir, I bring you warm greetings from the people of GaDangme and the region which hosts the Seat of your Government. May your reign be Peaceful, Progressive and memorable for good reasons and in particular for your good works !

Sir, I saw a viral video where a young man (Otto Ga) was surrounded by thugs and known landguards in Accra violating the Laws of the Land, threatening death on this young man, and coercing him to apologize to the embattled “Ga Mantse” HRM Dr. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and to pronounce him as the “Only Ga Mantse”. The video reminded me of the goring footages I saw as a little girl of the former Liberia President Samuel Doe during his capture and assassination in 1990. In the video attached herewith, I heard some of these thugs say, “If we had captured you at night…….”, but I dare ask, what would have happened to him ? Oh, or perhaps kill him like they have killed some traditional leaders within the GaDangme land without the benefit of the Law?

What was the “boy’s” crime to warrant such an atrocious, barbaric and inhumane treatment? Otto Ga was a nephew of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III whom the embattled Ga Mantse claimed to have buried, forcing the whole world to believe that indeed the late Queen was laid to rest on the 23rd October, 2023, but Otto Ga made a viral video forcefully making the claim that the late Queen mother (his maternal Aunt) was not buried, but currently at the morgue and could prove his claim. This was his crime !!

How can a prominent figure like the Queen Mother of the whole Ga State (Ga Manye HRM Naa Dedei Omaedru III), a woman who have served every President/Head of State of our beloved country from Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to yours truly, Prez. Mahama be at the morgue till now, yet, some few people gathered in the name of “Traditional Titles” to “outsmart” the whole nation to believe that they have indeed buried her by presenting an empty coffin to deceive the general public that they had laid the late Queen mother to rest – This deceit is gargantuan, regrettable, and unpardonable , Sir !

Mr. President, although we are mourning our Eight Gallant Heroes today, we must Not take our eyes off the pitch where thugs, hooligans and landguards manhandle citizens stripping them off the very dignity that Our constitution seeks to protect.

Is it the case that our securities; the Ghana Police Service, National Security, NIB, etc have not seen the viral videos and the violations? Or it is because the faces of the thugs in the videos are untouchable and above the Laws of the Land, oh! or it’s because the likes of Comrade Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala is gone, so Ghana doesn’t have passionate individuals to defend her offsprings again and remind people of the Judgement Day? No, I doubt that..!

But My President, If thugs could plot and capture a young man going about his lawful employment and be molested in a broad day light and without fear of the law, video themselves and their nefarious activities, abusing the boy’s human rights, violating our laws and shuttering our hope to live in peace in our own country, then what use are our taxes being put to? What use are our security agencies and finally, what use is the Democracy we voted for ?

Your Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, it is instructive to note that we have peculiar problems within all the 16 regions and whilst Galamsey is a cancer in other regions, the Greater Accra’s Cancer is Landguardism. One may ask, What use is the Anti-LANDGUARD Unit of the Ghana Police Service if it is not mandated to deal with these miscreants (Landguards) who attacks ordinary and unarmed civilians at the orders of their pay masters ?

Your Excellency, I crave your indulgence to be intentional about ending this cancer called “LANDGUARDS” within the GreaterAccra Region just as your ambition to end Galamsey, and I can assure you that once you end the landguardism, Robbery will reduce if not eradicated, double sale of lands would be a thing of the past, and you would have achieved a lot more by the end of your tenure. You’re your name would be written in GOLD in the Annals of Ghana and in particular GaDangme !

Please sir, start the end to the Landguradism by first ordering the arrest and prosecution of these landguards in this video. Please act now and act fast, before it’s too late.

Written by,
Naa Dromo
