Joseph Krampah, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), has criticized Ralph Saint Williams for denying that he assaulted a nurse at the Ridge Hospital during a live Facebook broadcast.
The GRNMA issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the police to arrest Ralph Saint Williams and his accomplices, warning that inaction could lead to further measures by the association.
Ralph had claimed that his live Facebook video was intended to expose what he described as delays and negligence by hospital staff during an emergency. He stated he was recording evidence to highlight poor medical care and to call for systemic reforms.
He has been accused of assaulting a nurse at the facility, an accusation he has vehemently denied, even threatening to invoke curses, known in Twi as ‘Duabo’.
In response, Mr. Krampah challenged him to take a more serious course of action, stating that the ‘Duabo’ was a minor threat.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said, “Ma no nkɔbɔ dua, ɔnkɔbɔ dadeɛ”.
He noted that Ralph’s behaviour was a misconduct that put other patients at risk and also threatened the safety of healthcare workers.
“You recklessly engaged in a criminal misconduct, assaulted a nurse, and now that she is telling her story, you dare threaten to invoke curses. He should be arrested immediately, investigated, and prosecuted. Threatening to curse people is unnecessary. Come to court and defend yourself; after that, if you decide to ‘bo wudadie,’ it is purely up to you,” he said.
According to Krampah, this level of recklessness is not limited to what Ralph did but is a problem across various health facilities.
When asked about the GRNMA’s next step after the 48-hour ultimatum, he stated, “the ultimatum we gave has not elapsed, and once it does, we will announce our next line of action.”
