Hon. Owen Kwame Frimpong, Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim Constituency, has made good on his promise to bring development to his constituents.
Despite being a relatively new MP, having broken the 24-year NPP stronghold in the constituency with his December 2024 victory, Frimpong has initiated several projects aimed at improving the lives of his people.
One of his notable achievements is the provision of over 200 streetlights to the Lower West Akim Municipality.
The Legislature expressed his disappointment with the previous administration’s failure to provide streetlights, which left areas like Asamankese in darkness and vulnerable to robbery.
Hon. Frimpong, speaking in an interview with Bohyeba K. Afriyie of Rainbow Radio International 87.5FM, praised Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Paulina Akabila, for covering the cost of fixing the streetlights. This initiative, he said, is expected to enhance security and reduce crime in the area.
Frimpong has also embarked on educational initiatives, including the construction of an ultra-modern computer lab at the Asamankese Roman Basic School.
This project aims to equip students with essential ICT skills, which are crucial in today’s world.
The MP emphasised that this would not only improve their academic performance but also shift their focus from mining to education.
Additionally, Frimpong visited the abandoned Osenase M/A JHS block, which had become a death trap due to years of neglect.
He has since started repairing the building, promising to paint and renovate it for better education.
Furthermore, the MP plans to renovate the Municipal Assembly Estate, which houses offices for the Fire Service, PWD, Ministries, and Departments. Upon completion, the renovated facility will be renamed “Ministries”.
Through these initiatives, Hon. Owen Kwame Frimpong demonstrates his commitment to transforming the Lower West Akim Constituency.
His efforts focus on strategic investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and sports, aiming to create new opportunities for the youth and improve the overall quality of life for his constituents.
