The Accra Regional Police Command has announced the apprehension of two individuals in connection with the violence that erupted during the Homowo Festival at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace.
The suspects have been identified as Christian Saka Ahianyevi, a 35-year-old private security officer, and Newton Alotey, a 26-year-old dispatch rider.
A statement issued by the Regional Command disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on August 30th and 31st, 2025, respectively.
They are being held for their alleged roles in the violence that resulted in three fatalities and several injuries.
During the arrests, police recovered 18 spent BB cartridges from Newton Alotey. Christian Saka Ahianyevi was found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other items.
All exhibits have been seized by the police.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, the Regional Police Command has assured the public that a strong security presence will be maintained in the affected communities.
They have also urged all residents and factions to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement. Persons with any information on the remaining suspects have been asked to call the police at 18555 or 191.
