Political analyst Alex Emmanuel Nti has reacted to concerns raised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the ruling government is using the Police Service and other security agencies to intimidate its members.
He shot down claims that the ruling government is using its powers to intimidate opponents through arrest.
He was responding to the ‘Yensuro Ahuahuhua’ demonstration organised by the NPP on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
He asserted that the NPP and its members should not be afraid of arrest or invitation from authorities if they have not committed any crime or engaged in any corrupt act.
He said just as the NDC has planned to investigate and deal with corruption allegedly committed by former officials, the NPP would have equally done the same or even worse.
Mr. Alex Emmanuel Nti stated in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that we need sanity in our governance space and all persons suspected of engaging in criminal activities and corruption-related offences must be investigated and sanctioned where necessary.
He said the constitution of Ghana has mandated institutions like the Economic and Organised Crime Office and other allied agencies and bodies to invite suspects or persons of interest to assist with ongoing investigations.
He advised the NPP members who are currently going through the process to cooperate and not claim intimidation and harassment.
Mr. Nti used the analogy of the eagle and chicks, saying if you are not a chick and an eagle is passing by, you don’t run, which meant that if those who are being investigated have nothing to hide or have not committed any offence, they should not be afraid.
“If you are not a chick, you have nothing to fear when you see the eagle. We have all agreed that there is the need to fight corruption. Prior to the election, Ghanaians complained bitterly that corruption was rampant and we needed to deal with it. There are those who have used dubious means to steal from the state and if you are not one of those who have stolen from the state, you should have no concern. If the NPP were to be in office, they would have done the same thing. So, if they want to fight corruption and the NDC is now in office and fighting corruption, they should not claim there is intimidation and harassment of their members.”
