A second-year student at the Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI), Emmanuel Sam, also known as Agogo, who stabbed his teacher, has been sentenced to six months in prison.
He was also ordered by the Takoradi District Court to pay GH₵3,000 as compensation to the injured teacher or serve an additional three months in default.
Additionally, the court ordered him to pay a fine of GH₵2,400.
The student had used an unauthorized route to enter the school premises. A teacher on duty apprehended him and attempted to escort him to the senior housemaster for disciplinary action.
In an attempt to avoid facing the housemaster, Sam pulled a pair of scissors from his pocket and stabbed the teacher in the arm.
He was later arrested and handed over to the Central Police Station. Sam was arraigned in court and prosecuted, which led to his sentencing.
