Lecturer and psychologist Emmanuel Ziggah has commented on the decision by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to dismiss Charles Akwasi Aidoo, the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School.
Mr. Ziggah described the circumstances leading to the headmaster’s dismissal as deeply troubling.
The Assistant Headmaster was relieved of his duties by the GES on September 29, 2025, following the viral circulation of a video alleging misconduct with a female student.
Call for Psychological Evaluation
Mr. Ziggah suggested that the Assistant Headmaster may be grappling with a mental health issue and recommended that he be thoroughly examined.
The psychologist expressed profound confusion over the incident, particularly the fact that the misconduct was allegedly filmed.
”I am struggling to understand why the Assistant Headmaster would jeopardize his years of service by engaging in misconduct—fondling a female student—and then allow for it to be filmed. I believe he may be suffering from a mental illness. Had he been mentally stable, he would not have engaged in such an action,” Mr. Ziggah stated.
Focus on the Student and Societal Values
Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Ziggah also advised authorities to extend their attention to the female student.
He recommended a comprehensive review of her life circumstances, including a visit to her family, to understand the environment in which she lives.
He reiterated a broader concern that discipline has significantly deteriorated, arguing that society is facing challenges due to a breakdown in student morality and values.
Mr. Ziggah added that the Assistant Headmaster has caused irreparable damage to his educational career, noting that the label of “predator” will be a permanent stain on his professional life.
He strongly advocated for the immediate assignment of counsellors to both the female student and the dismissed Assistant Headmaster.
