One person beheaded and others injured in a chieftaincy dispute

One person has had his throat slit and about others have been injured following a violent chieftaincy riot at Asemko and Butre in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.

The incident occurred following a long-standing dispute between the communities of Butre and Asemko, triggered by efforts of Asemko residents to install their own chief.

The situation has left the Asemko community in a state of devastation and fear.

Some structures were also set ablaze as a result of the crisis.

Currently, the entire community is deserted, as residents have fled their homes to seek safety in nearby towns and villages.
