Kennedy Agyapong, an aspiring presidential candidate in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, has called on the Christian community to invest in industries as a crucial step to address the nation’s high unemployment rate.

The politician acknowledged the immense contributions of Christian leaders, citing figures such as Archbishop Charles Agyinasare and Bishop E.O. Ansah, to the Body of Christ.

However, he urged them to make substantial investments in industrial ventures specifically to create employment opportunities, particularly for their congregants.

During his address, he emphasised that the establishment of industries through the church’s collective efforts would be pivotal for national development.

He commended Archbishop Charles Agyinasare for establishing the Perez University College but stressed the concurrent need for the Archbishop to expand his investments into the industrial sector.

Mr. Agyapong, a former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, stated that there must be a strong collaboration between the Church and politicians to drive national progress, declaring, “The Church and politicians must collaborate in building this country.”

Furthermore, he asserted that the Church has a moral obligation to be bold in guiding its members toward electing a competent President of the Republic.
Call for Job Creation and a Warning on False Prophets

Mr. Agyapong delivered these remarks at the inauguration of the Eternal Life Church in Madina on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

He directly appealed to the spiritual leaders, saying: “Use your platforms and the respect that you’ve earned to create jobs… The biggest challenge we are facing as a country is unemployment. Therefore, I entreat all the churches to invest in industries to create jobs for the people, especially your church members.”

He also expressed deep concern over what he described as extortion and indoctrination by “fake prophets,” warning that their activities undermine the genuine work of credible religious leaders.

Mr. Agyapong stressed that genuine men of God have a duty to ensure their work promotes discipline, patriotism, and a corruption-free society. He concluded by noting that while politicians have lost the trust of Ghanaians due to unfulfilled promises, the public retains a deep respect and trust for prophets and reverend ministers. Therefore, he argued, they must leverage their pulpits for the overall good of the country.
