An altercation stemming from a trade dispute in Apesika, Afram Plains North, has resulted in the brutal assault of one fisherman by another.
The incident centers on Mr. Akli, the suspect, and Mr. Ibrana, the victim, both local fishermen.
According to Mr. Ibrana, the dispute originated from an agreement where Akli had provided Ibrana with half a cup of garri in exchange for a fish intended for Akli’s sister.
Two weeks later, Mr. Akli, accompanied by his accomplice, Mr. Torgbe, confronted Ibrana to inquire about the outstanding fish.
Ibrana reportedly cited poor health as his reason for the delay, an excuse which Akli and Torgbe rejected.
Osofoba Enoch, providing an account of the incident on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, stated that after the refusal of Ibrana’s excuse, Akli and Torgbe—along with Akli’s mother and sister—allegedly initiated a physical attack.
The confrontation escalated into a vicious brawl.
During the struggle, Ibrana was reportedly knocked down but fought back.
It was during this process that Akli allegedly seized Ibrana’s mouth, bit off a portion of the flesh, and consumed it.
When asked immediately afterward what he had done with the severed tissue, the suspect is reported to have replied, “I have chewed and swallowed it.”
Mr. Ibrana was immediately transported to the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Mr. Akli and Mr. Torgbe have since been arrested and are currently assisting the police with their investigation.
However, Akli’s sister is now on the run and is actively being sought by law enforcement.
