Yaw Opoku Mensah, a campaign spokesperson for former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has categorically dismissed the credibility of recent surveys predicting victory for a particular candidate in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
The spokesperson for the former Education Minister asserted that based on on-the-ground assessments and campaign activities, Dr Adutwum is poised to secure victory in the NPP’s presidential primary, scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Speaking in an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on the “Frontline” programme on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr Mensah stated that “the message of Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has resonated with the delegates.” He further characterised Dr. Adutwum as “the most competent, credible, and diligent among the contenders.”
He maintained that the former Education Minister “remains resolute in his pursuit of victory.”
“Based on what I have seen, observed, and witnessed, and from what the delegates have communicated to us, Dr Osei Adutwum will secure victory,” he affirmed.
When specifically questioned about the survey and predictions released by Global InfoAnalytics, he reiterated that such predictions “cannot define Dr Adutwum’s ultimate victory”.
“What one must understand is that these surveys or polls are not binding on us; one can choose whether or not to believe them,” he explained. “We were in this country when some NDC officials cautioned the research firm against conducting any further polls regarding the NDC, and they complied. If a firm can be warned to halt its surveys, it implies that these activities can be influenced. Therefore, such polls should not be the benchmark for measuring our performance.”
He added, “Our performance will be demonstrated on January 31, 2026, when the actual election is held, and the public will witness the outcome. We equally have internal polls that guide our work. Global InfoAnalytics is free to proceed with its work; we have no issue with that. However, our polls indicate that Dr. Adutwum will secure victory.”
