The Accra High Court has issued a new directive regarding the funeral rites of the late musician Daddy Lumba, following an injunction previously placed on the proceedings.
The court had ruled in favor of the late musician’s maternal relatives, but now orders the parties involved in the dispute to pay GH₵2 million by 2:00 pm today. Failure to comply will result in the funeral proceeding as scheduled tomorrow.
The payment is intended to cover costs incurred during funeral preparations in case the burial is ultimately canceled.
This latest ruling follows an earlier injunction restraining Kofi Owusu, the family head, from organizing the funeral and barring Transitions Funeral Home from releasing Daddy Lumba’s body.
The injunction was granted amid a dispute over funeral leadership and fund management between the late musician’s maternal relatives and the family head.
The court initially directed that a meeting be convened within three weeks to agree on a new burial date, in accordance with Akan customs.
