The Speaker of Parliament, Right Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has remitted two ministerial nominees to the Appointments Committee to undergo their vetting process.
The nominees involved are Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, designated for the Environment, Science and Technology portfolio, alongside Honourable Mahama Ayariga, who has been nominated for the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs ministry.
Informing the House of the remittance on the parliamentary floor today, Monday, August 24, 2026, amid an emergency recall session, Speaker Bagbin stated:
“I accordingly refer the two to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report to the House.”
The Speaker further cautioned the Committee to remain mindful of the tight schedule governing the emergency recall.
“I want to remind the House that the period I gave in my notice is for a sitting of one week and that should be taken into consideration by the Appointments Committee. In other words, the consequential motions will have to be made and we have to abide by our Standing Orders,” he noted.
