Political analyst Samuel Boateng has observed that, in his first year of office for his second term, President John Dramani Mahama has neither sent us to heaven nor plunged us to hell.
He posited that the president has performed commendably, although there remains scope for enhancement.
During his appearance on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the analyst remarked that the prevailing conditions are significantly better than those witnessed in the past.
He noted that the current administration has, to a considerable extent, maintained stability, improved the living standards of Ghanaians, and notably reduced the burden previously experienced.
Mr. Boateng awarded President John Mahama a performance score of 70 percent, while emphasising that it is too premature for a comprehensive evaluation of this administration.
He further stated that if the government maintains fiscal discipline, ensures good governance, and tackles corruption effectively, it will undoubtedly make a positive impact.
“President John Dramani Mahama hasn’t taken us to heaven, nor has he sent us to hell. However, if we are candid or truthful to ourselves, we can conclude that the situation has improved significantly. The conditions we were under in the past have improved. It may not be an extraordinary performance, but it is far better. The key focus for Ghanaians is economic stability alongside security, education, and others. So I will rate the President 70 per cent.
So far so good. We can commend the government for the successes and criticise it for the negatives. But the government has restored the confidence of Ghanaians. President Mahama is enjoying particular trust, with about 65 to 70 per cent of Ghanaians believing that the country is headed in the right direction.”
