The Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG) has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his “food governance.”
ORAGBsats: Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, the cedi-to-dollar rate has been stable, leading to a reduction in fuel prices, motorbike prices, and spare parts costs.
A statement issued by ORAG indicates that they appreciate the efforts in stabilizing the economy and improving the lives of Ghanaians.
“We also commend the President for fulfilling his promise to legalize our business, a move that has brought relief to our members.
However, we wish to remind the President of another campaign promise—to designate safe paths for Okada riders on new roads. During a meeting at Class FM, he assured us that his government would consider this crucial safety measure.”
It commended the government for the passage of the law that legalized Okada operations but raised concerns over safety issues regarding ongoing road projects.
“We appreciate the government’s swift action in legalizing our business, a promise that has been fulfilled,” said Michael Kofi Owusu, National President of ORAG. “However, we note with concern that several road construction projects have commenced without incorporating these safety paths.”
ORAG believes that the President’s government is a listening one and is confident that concerns about safety will be addressed. “We look forward to seeing designated paths for okada riders in future road constructions,” Owusu added.
ORAG commends the President for his efforts so far and trusts that this promise will be fulfilled as well.”
