Globally acclaimed streamer IShowSpeed has been officially bestowed the Ghanaian name Berima Kofi Akuffo during a traditional naming ceremony led by the Akuapemhene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, on Monday, January 26, 2026.
This significant cultural event took place during the final leg of the streamer’s 2026 Africa tour.
To mark the occasion, IShowSpeed was dressed in traditional regalia, including a hand-woven Kente cloth and Ahenema (royal sandals), symbolizing honor and deep cultural appreciation.
According to the traditional authority, the name “Berima” signifies bravery and courage, recognising the streamer’s global exploits.
During the ceremony, he was encouraged to uphold the integrity of the name by remaining truthful in all his dealings and avoiding deception, as his actions now reflect upon the heritage bestowed on him.

The ceremony follows a massive welcome at Kotoka International Airport earlier that day.
Known for his high-energy content, IShowSpeed’s visit is highly anticipated, with plans for a major, potentially record-breaking live stream.
The visit has also taken a personal turn, as the streamer revealed his Ghanaian roots, noting that his mother and several other family members are of Ghanaian descent.
In light of this connection, he has announced his intention to purchase a home in Ghana, cementing his bond with his ancestral land.
