The announcement was made on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Osu Headquarters of the CCG.

Commemorating the first-ever International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, Reverend Jehoaidah Amuzu, Director of Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, said that Koku Anyidoho, Founder and CEO of the MILLS Institute for Public Advocacy and Transformational Leadership Development, is now an official integral part of CCG.

In his address to commemorate the Day, General Secretary of CCG, Dr Cyril Fayose, reaffirmed Koku Anyidoho’s position and expressed confidence in the synergy between MILLS Institute and CCG.

The International Day of Peaceful Coexistence was adopted by a United Nations Resolution in March 2025 for the purpose of promoting religious/cultural diversity, human rights, peacebuilding, tolerance and solidarity.

On the historic occasion of CCG organising the first-ever UN-approved International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, Dr Fayose made reference to the UN SDG 16, which deals with peace, justice and security.

“The Christian Council is a divine instrument for peacebuilding, and after 96 years of existence, we are happy to be hosting this historic event, and we stay committed to being the oldest Ecumenical Council in Ghana and will continue to support all efforts to bring peace to all facets of society,” Dr Fayose said.

In his Vote of Thanks comments, Koku Anyidoho touched on his personal experience vis-à-vis his father, Major General Henry Anyidoho’s central role in bringing peace to Rwanda, and how that has shaped his (Koku’s) personal approach to nation-building – striving for peaceful coexistence at all times.

“Working as a close aide to Asomdwehene President Atta-Mills, I am deeply appreciative of the need to at all times work together for peace in Ghana because without peace we cannot have any development,” Koku Anyidoho said.

General Anyidoho was the Deputy Force Commander and Chief of Staff for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Rwanda (UNAMIR), which helped stabilise the genocide in Rwanda.

The Office of the President was represented by a representative from the Office of the Presidential Envoy on Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations.

Other groups present to deliver solidarity messages include the National Peace Council, the Office of the Chief Imam, and the Ahamadiyya Muslim Council.
