The Office of the Deputy Minister of Education has swiftly debunked rumours of a rift within the ministry’s leadership, following a viral video suggesting a breakdown in the working relationship between the sector’s top officials.
The disclaimer, signed by Samson Samari, Personal Assistant to the Deputy Minister, addresses a recent broadcast by Kelvin Taylor on his “With All Due Respect” programme.
In the video, Taylor alleged that there were grievances regarding how duties are delegated between the substantive Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and his deputy, Hon. Dr Clement Apaak.
But the statement denied the claims, stating that the commentary does not reflect the Deputy Minister’s views or his actual experience on the job.
“Hon. Dr Clement Apaak fully dissociates himself from the claims made by Kelvin Taylor,” the statement read. “The Deputy Minister has never expressed, privately or publicly, any grievance regarding his role or the delegation of duties within the Ministry.”
Rather than a ministry divided, the statement indicated that there was professional synergy.
The office highlighted that Minister Haruna Iddrisu has fostered a highly inclusive atmosphere, empowering his deputy to take on significant responsibilities.
According to the release, Dr Apaak considers himself one of the “most empowered” deputies in government, frequently representing the Ministry at high-level decision-making forums and international functions.
He urged the public to ignore the social media speculation, labelling it as “misinformation” that distracts from their primary mission.
“The Deputy Minister maintains the highest level of respect for the Minister’s leadership,” Samari noted, adding that both officials remain focused on their shared commitment to advancing the nation’s educational agenda.
