Hon. Dr Isaac Yaw Ofori Opoku, the Member of Parliament for Offinso South and Ranking Member of the Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs Committee, has declined to publicly endorse any of the five aspirants contesting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary scheduled for January 31.
Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM with host Kwabena Agyapong, the lawmaker emphasized that his primary loyalty lies with the party rather than any specific individual.
When asked directly which candidate he supported, he maintained a neutral stance, stating that he is first and foremost a member of the NPP and will fully support whoever is elected to lead the party toward victory in the 2028 general elections.
The MP noted that the most critical factor for the party at this stage is unity and the collective ability to secure power in the next elections.
”I am a member of the NPP. Whoever is elected, we will give that person our full support to ensure victory in 2028.”
A total of 211,849 delegates are expected to participate in the exercise, casting their votes at 333 polling centers across the country’s 276 constituencies.
The voting process is scheduled to begin at 07:00 and conclude at 14:00.
To ensure transparency and order, the NPP has handed over the management of the voting, counting, collation, and declaration processes to the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to the established protocol, results will be declared first at the various polling centers before being collated at regional centers.
The final official announcement will be made at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
The five aspirants vying for the leadership slot are Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
