The Kotobabi District Police Command has apprehended two alleged street robbers subsequent to an intelligence-led patrol operation conducted at Dzorwulu in Accra.
A police report stated that on January 14, 2026, a patrol team conducting routine patrols on a service motorcycle encountered two suspicious individuals riding an unregistered black Royal 125 motorcycle.
The accused, identified as Stephen Gletsu, 37, who was operating the motorcycle, and Mohammed Sheriff, 20, the pillion passenger, were both attired in all-black clothing and helmets.
The pillion passenger was observed holding a machete, but upon noticing the police, the accused sped away, prompting a pursuit.
During the chase, warning shots were fired, causing the accused to lose control and crash near Roman Ridge, close to the Nigerian High Commission. The accused attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by the patrol team.
Items retrieved from the suspects were one Infinix mobile phone, one iPhone 12 Pro, one Samsung A21, one iPhone 15 Pro, one iPhone 13, one Infinix feature phone, one itel feature phone, one Nokia feature phone, one Infinix X6528 phone, a necklace, and cash in the sum of Two Thousand Six Hundred and Ninety Ghana Cedis (GH₵2,690.00) and Two Dollars (USD 2).

According to the police, the suspects admitted to committing the robbery and other crimes during interrogation.
The accused persons, identified by victims through statements, have been remanded into police custody for robbery.
Four additional accomplices have been arrested, and all suspects are set to reappear in court on February 4, 2026.
