Salaga South MP, Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimiah, has criticised the Minority for attempting to undermine the establishment of a 24-Hour Economy Authority. Speaking in Parliament, she expressed disappointment with the Minority’s suggestion that the authority is unnecessary.

Hon. Zuwera recalled the Minority’s promotion of Free SHS in the Eighth Parliament, noting that despite assurances, the bill was never presented.

She contrasted this with the current NDC government’s implementation of Free SHS, which has seen no strikes, food shortages, or demonstrations since taking office on January 7, 2025.

She attributed this success to careful policy formulation and long-term sustainability, emphasising that running a country requires more than rushed policies. Hon. Zuwera also highlighted the difference between export promotion and development, explaining that the 24-hour economy focuses on productivity, competitiveness, and inclusive growth.

She cited President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for Ghana to “consume what we produce” and export value-added goods. Hon. Zuwera praised Mahama’s recent visit to Zambia, where he wore a Ghanaian fugu, showcasing the export of finished Ghanaian products.
