The Ghanaian government has launched an urgent emergency evacuation for its citizens living in Qatar, citing a rapidly deteriorating security situation across the Middle East.
In an official communiqué issued by the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Doha on Sunday, March 15, officials confirmed that the decision follows a previous security alert released earlier this month.
The government stated that the move is a proactive measure to ensure the safety of its nationals as regional tensions continue to climb.
The embassy clarified that the mission is strictly a one-way evacuation to Accra. While the specific nature of the security threats was not detailed in the release, the language used—tagging the notice with “FLASH” and “IMMEDIATE RELEASE”—underscores the perceived gravity of the situation.
Deadline for Nationals
Ghanaian residents in Qatar who wish to take part in the government-led exit have a very narrow window to act. The embassy has set a deadline of Tuesday, March 17, 2026, for all interested parties to reconfirm their intent to leave.
To register, citizens must submit the biodata pages of their passports to the embassy via the official email address: doha@mfa.gov.gh.
The Ghanaian community in Doha has been advised to remain in close contact with embassy officials and to monitor local news outlets for further updates regarding flight schedules and assembly points.
