Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana Madam Nyonkopa Daniels has cautioned Baba Jamal, the newly sworn-in Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso East constituency, to deliver on the promises he made to his constituents.

According to her, she was behind him going back to Parliament and stopped the majority caucus in the House, who called for the annulment of the primaries.

She advised him to be dedicated, remain loyal to his people and not fail in his promises.

Madam Daniels said she would be the first person to call him out should he fail in delivering in his mandate.

She said as someone who promised the people jobs and better opportunities, he has an obligation to deliver them.

“Baba Jamal has been sworn in. We will encourage him to deliver. We prayed and supported him, and so if we hear from his people that he is facing trouble, we will call him out. My message to Baba Jamal is simple: he must stay true to every promise he made to Ghanaians. We will not pamper anyone. The same platform I used to praise him will be the same platform I use to condemn him if he fails to deliver,” she said on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, last week officially swore in Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed as the Member of Parliament representing Ayawaso East.

The lawyer took his oath of office and oath of allegiance, administered by the Speaker, in a ceremony held in the Parliament of Ghana chamber on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Following the swearing-in, the Speaker formally welcomed Ahmed as the representative of the Ayawaso East Constituency in Parliament.

The Speaker counselled the new MP to prioritise the needs of his constituents and the nation, urging him to remain focused in his role.

“During your campaign, you promised the people of Ayawaso East that you wanted to serve them as a member of Parliament and, by doing so, serve Ghana. You don’t want to serve Ghana as a high commissioner in Nigeria,” the speaker said.

“I took note of those statements, and I am going to hold you, as my son, accountable to the good people of Ayawaso East. Serving them, you must. So I will focus on you on this floor to see how you perform in serving them,” he added.
