The Ashanti South Regional Police have apprehended three individuals in connection with the alleged murder of the Kusasi chief in Asawase, which occurred in July 2025.
The suspects, identified as Jamil Usman (also known as Babamu or Guru), Suleman Yasir Arafat (alias Obasanjo), and Ashiadu Sumbeida (also known as Eyeshadow), are currently in custody.
During a press conference held in Bekwai on March 17, 2026, Ashanti South Regional Police Commander Joseph Hammond Nyaaba stated that arrangements are being made to transfer the suspects to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for further investigation.
He disclosed that the key suspect, Illiasu (also known as Abodam), remains at large and urged the public to provide information leading to his arrest.
The police recovered two AK-47 assault rifles, one pump-action gun, two pistols, and 44 rounds of .32 ammunition during the operation.
