A group of individuals struggling with drug addiction in Obomeng have announced their readiness to reform and abandon substance abuse.

This commitment was made during a special event organized by the Queen Mother of Obomeng, Nana Yaa Kwei II, on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Prior to this declaration, the Queen Mother had issued a firm warning to the youth in the Nkawkaw area, particularly those using marijuana, urging them to desist from drug abuse and focus on building responsible lives.

To facilitate this engagement, Nana Yaa Kwei II organised a feeding exercise for identified individuals within the community as part of a broader effort to offer support and reform.

Addressing the group following the meal, the Obomeng Hemaa advised them to turn away from drugs, emphasizing that substance abuse severely impacts their health, their future prospects, and the overall development of the community. She encouraged them to adopt positive lifestyles and seize opportunities that would improve their well-being.

“I organized this event to encourage our youth to stay away from drug addiction, steaming, and other forms of criminal activities,” the Queen Mother stated. “Just recently, one of them was attacked and died because he had gone to allegedly steal. So I came to them with a message to give themselves to Christ. I know God will listen to my prayers and transform their lives.”

Speaking on behalf of the group, Abena Rose expressed profound gratitude to the Queen Mother for her kindness and genuine concern.

She acknowledged the harmful effects of drug use and pledged to quit smoking.

As a practical step toward transformation, she promised to join the Queen Mother for a church service this coming Sunday.

“We extend our gratitude to the Queen Mother. She has really done well for us. I am personally grateful to her,” Abena Rose noted. “For thinking about us and cooking for us, we are happy. I am making a personal pledge that from today, I have given up smoking of wee. I will no longer smoke wee, take in colorado, rohypnol, and tramadol.”
