The Head Pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, has been apprehended by authorities in connection with an alleged attempt to bury a five-month-old baby girl alive in a refuse dump at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, is said to have occurred around 11 p.m. when the pastor and an accomplice were spotted under suspicious circumstances with the infant.
An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, intervened after noticing unusual activity and discovered the child was alive and appeared to be on the verge of being buried.
Swift action by the eyewitness and others prevented what could have been a fatal incident.
According to a report filed on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Odeshieba Kwame Atombola stated that the self-proclaimed man of God claimed the baby was cursed and required to be bruised alive.
He allegedly acted on a purported divine instruction to bury the baby, intending to prevent the child from bringing supposed curses upon her family.
According to the chief linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, the suspect had earlier informed him that the child was deceased, leading to discussions about burial arrangements, but he claimed to be unaware that the baby was still alive.
The baby girl is currently receiving medical treatment at a government hospital.
The Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation into the incident, and the suspect is in custody assisting with the probe.
