The Ministry of Education has established a three-member committee to investigate recent allegations made by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
The move follows a series of concerns raised by the association during a recent press conference.
The committee is tasked with reviewing the specific grievances and related academic matters to provide a factual basis for government action.
Its findings and subsequent recommendations will be submitted to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for consideration.
The investigative body is led by the Deputy Minister for Education, Honourable Clement Apaak.
Joining him are two prominent figures in the Ghanaian educational sector: Professor George K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Education and
Professor Mahama Duweijua, Board Chairman of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
In a statement signed by Hashmin Mohammed, press secretary to the minister, the ministry appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate fully with the committee.
The ministry emphasised its commitment to constructive dialogue, noting that the primary goal remains the swift resolution of outstanding issues to safeguard the interests of tertiary education in Ghana.
The committee’s work is expected to begin immediately to ensure a timely conclusion to the dispute.
