The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the possession of narcotic drugs and the engagement in prohibited drug-related activities within the Accra metropolis.

The operation commenced on 10 April 2026, after the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector General of Police received intelligence regarding a group planning to sell suspected narcotics in the Dzorwulu area of Accra. Following this report, a surveillance operation was mounted, leading a police team to the location on 11 April 2026.

During this initial intervention, officers apprehended two suspects, Bright Ayivor and Ifeanyi Ijeoba, who were found in possession of 22 compressed substances suspected to be cocaine.

These materials were reportedly being prepared for sale to a prospective buyer at the time of the arrest.

Subsequent interrogation of the pair identified a third suspect, Kwabena Botwe, as a primary figure in the local drug trade.

A follow-up operation was conducted at Caprice, where police established surveillance during a planned transaction involving the proceeds from drug sales, resulting in Botwe’s arrest.

The suspect then led officers to his residence at Greda Estates, where a search uncovered GH¢400,000 in cash and a currency counting machine.

In a further attempt to evade justice, the suspect offered a bribe of GH¢420,000 to the arresting officers.

This additional sum was seized and has been retained as evidence of the attempted inducement.

All three suspects remain in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations and are expected to be arraigned before the court in due course.
