As part of a dedicated effort to bolster youth empowerment within the Upper West Akim constituency, the Member of Parliament, Honourable Emmanuel Drah, has presented professional equipment to 17 newly qualified hairdressers.

The donation took place during a mass graduation ceremony held in Adeiso, marking a pivotal step in the professional lives of the young artisans.

While addressing the beneficiaries, Honourable Drah encouraged the graduates to maintain their new equipment diligently and to take immense pride in their chosen profession.

He reminded them that their technical skills represent a lifelong asset that remains theirs forever.

Reaffirming his dedication to youth development, the MP emphasised that his office is committed to providing the essential tools and resources required to help young constituents transition into self-reliant and successful entrepreneurs.

The MP noted that this initiative is part of an ongoing programme of support.

He recalled that in 2025, he personally funded a similar exercise in the absence of an appointed chief executive at the time.

To ensure the graduates could commence their professional careers immediately, Honourable Drah provided seventeen brand-new standing hair dryers, alongside comprehensive hairdressing kits and vital tools.

“This is not something new. It has been in existence, and the former MP collaborated with the assembly in supporting individuals who had undergone apprenticeship and completed it. In 2025, I supported 55 individuals with start-up capital of GH₵500 each and kits. We have supported some people this year with tools. When I took over, I became aware of this initiative, and I did not want it to end, so I continued with it. We are looking forward to supporting a total of 50 fashion designer trainees who are set to graduate on Saturday.”

Madam Georgina Owusu, Vice Chairman of the Adeiso Hairdressers Association, expressed her profound gratitude on behalf of the association and the beneficiaries.

Whilst thanking the MP for his timely intervention, she issued a stern warning to the graduates against selling the equipment for short-term financial gain.

Instead, she urged them to focus their efforts on establishing their own salons as soon as possible to make the most of the opportunity.

Madam Patience, speaking for the graduates, also offered her heartfelt appreciation to Honourable Drah, describing the support as a life-changing gesture for the young professionals.
