A murder investigation has been launched in Boakye-krom, a village situated along the highway in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District, following the violent death of a young agricultural professional.
The local chief, Nana Kwasi Owusu I, confirmed that the victim, 28-year-old David, was an agricultural extension officer based in Nkwanta.
David was highly regarded for his role in managing several large-scale commercial farms belonging to prominent national figures who hold land within the Afram Plains.
Due to the scale of his responsibilities, David had recently requested additional help from the farm owners.
In response, a man identified as Moses was hired as his assistant approximately two weeks prior to the incident.
The motive for the attack appears to be rooted in a recent dispute over a theft.
According to Nana Kwasi Owusu, Moses had allegedly stolen a mobile phone from a member of the community.
Upon discovering this, David intervened, recovered the device, and returned it to its rightful owner.
It is believed that David’s integrity and refusal to overlook the crime provoked Moses, leading to a confrontation in which David was fatally attacked.
Following the brutal killing, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Local police have since moved the deceased to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination and have launched a manhunt to locate and apprehend Moses in connection with the murder.
