Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in the Gabonese capital to join a prestigious assembly of global leaders, investors, and technology pioneers for the inaugural Libreville International Forum for Innovation and Development.
The high-level summit, hosted under the patronage of Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, is set against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Under the theme “Political Stability, Business Climate, and Artificial Intelligence: Catalysts for Growth”, the event serves as a strategic platform to explore how emerging technologies can be harnessed to bolster economic resilience and governance across the continent.
A significant highlight of the proceedings is the official inauguration of the newly constructed Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre.
This state-of-the-art facility is hosting the forum and is designated to become a primary hub for future international diplomacy and regional dialogue.
The summit is expected to conclude with the “Libreville Declaration”, a formal communique outlining a collective commitment from political leaders to enhance transparency, refine governance frameworks, and accelerate digital integration.
The declaration will provide a roadmap for African nations seeking to balance political stability with the transformative potential of artificial intelligence.
A statement issued by the minister for government communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stated that “The forum seeks to position Gabon as a regional innovation hub and key destination for international investment. Organisers are holding the Forum to inaugurate the newly constructed Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre, which also serves as the venue for the Forum and as a future centre for international dialogue.
The forum will culminate in the “Libreville Declaration”, which will showcase the strategic political leaders’ commitments to enhancing governance, transparency, and digital integration across the continent.
President Mahama remains a strong advocate for fostering partnerships that bridge the gap between government policy and private-sector growth to ensure inclusive development.”
