The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has directed Mallam Issah Ishak, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Highway Authority, to initiate the immediate termination of Black Oak’s contract for the Bogoso–Prestea road project.
Although the contract was formalised in 2025, the contractor failed to mobilise to the site until March 2026.
Following the initial clearance of the road verges, the firm abandoned the worksite under the pretext of lacking the necessary engineering designs.
Data provided by the Regional Highways Engineer indicates that less than two per cent of the contracted works have been finalised.
During a formal inspection of the “Big Push” infrastructure initiatives within the Western Region, Minister Agbodza emphasised that whilst this specific stretch of road does not fall under the Big Push portfolio, it remains a critical government priority.
He further asserted that the ministry would not tolerate any further delays or professional negligence from the contractor.
