Ghana’s hopes were dashed when Duo athletes failed to clinch medals in the men’s 100m finals in the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra.
Ghanaian sprinters Joseph Paul Amoah and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, who before the race exhibited massive confidence, failed to secure a medal despite high expectations from the home crowd.
Joseph Paul Amoah produced a spirited performance but narrowly missed out on the podium after finishing fourth, while Rashid Saminu crossed the line in sixth place in a highly competitive final at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The result comes as a setback for Team Ghana, who were hoping to make a strong statement in one of the championship’s most anticipated sprint events.
However, the duo are still confident in making a statement in the men’s 200m race, which comes off today.
